Maths turns to fun

Maths was the name of the game on Thursday evening last week when 20 enthusiastic teams of local primary school pupils competed in the annual mathletics competition. The standard three and four competition was held first followed by the form one and two competition. Each team of four received one question at a time and continued to work on it until they got it correct or passed on to the next one. The teams could answer up to 20 questions in 30 minutes. Winning team members in each section received book tokens provided by Berry's Bookshop and a book voucher for their school library. Results: Standard 3 and 4 1st 'Ohakune Nerds' Neil

Bradley, Tony Gordon, Angela Bradley, Jason Waerea; 2nd 'Raetihi Speedy Workers' Emma Forster, Kelly-Ann Craig, Vicky Brown, Jennifer Griffiths; 3rd 'Orautoha Dream Team' Stewart Hammond, Sarah Todd, Nichola McNie, George Williams. Forms 1 and 2 1st 'Orautoha Whizz Matics' Logan Brown, Wayne Graham, Sally Williams, Carina McNie; 2nd 'Raetihi Scatter Brains' Amy Cranston, Daniel Forster, Christopher Bennett, Eileen Voon; 3rd 'Ohakune Don't No's' Peter Manson, Marama Akapita, Justin MacKay, Desirie Wilson.
