Squash court building starts soon

Planning for the construction of Ohakune's new squash courts is well under way, with tenders chosen. At last week's committee meeting, tender selection for the various labour sections were confirmed.

"The committee were very pleased with the support offered by many local tenderers who obviously treated it as a community project and trimmed costs accordingly," said chairman Jchn Laurenson. Foundation work is

scheduled to start in early September. The concrete base floor, pre-cast playing walls, steel structure and roof structure are all scheduled to be completed by the middle of November. The Committee currently has sufficient funds to fi-

nance all the above. An application for further funds is currently with the Lottery Grants Board who will be considering the application on 18 November. The written support given to the committee by many groups within the com-

munity to accompany the Lottery Board application was greatly appreciated, said Mr Laurenson. Final completion date
