Divers compete

Fifteen competitive swimmers represented Waiouru in the East Coast junior and senior championships held 2526 July and 1-2 August in Napier. For some it was the first time competing at this level. Kane Tamou competed well in five events but was unable to gain a place in the finals. In the consolation finals Samantha Condon was 1st in the 50m backstroke, 5th in the 50m butterfly; Rikki Vaa Tui Tui finished 3rd in the 100m breaststroke; Kristine Clark finished lst in the 50m breastroke. Crystal Walker finished 2nd in the 50m breaststroke, 3rd in the 50m backstroke and 5th in the 50m freestyle and :

butterfly. Oriana was lst in the 25m freestyle and backstroke, 3rd in the 25m butterfly and 4th in the 25m breaststroke final. Oriana and Crystal leave for Australia in September with the Wanganui Invitation team.
