Youth assaults bar staff
• When a 17-year-old local youth was asked to leave the Ohakune Public Hotel's Bar at about 8.25pm last week he became abusive, and a 16-year-old produced a knife and threatened bar staff. The other youth threw the pool table jigger at staff members, then threw pool balls at the staff, hitting one staff member. The youths then ran off. They were located next morning and remanded in custody to appear in court in Wanganui yesterday. • Overnight 11-12 August an Austin Marina left in Dreadnought Road after it had broken down was broken into and a number of music tapes, a grey carry bag and clothing stolen. • Last Thursday between 7-8. 30pm a car parked outside the Ohakune Primary School was broken into and a child's car seat, sunglasses, shopping bag, cleaning gear and a car blanket stolen. • A house in Miharo Street, Rangataua, was broken into some time in the last two weeks and four two-seater couches taken, plus three double mattresses, a heater, vacuum cleaner, lawnmower, floor cushions, antique chair. • On Friday night a young woman left her purse in the Ohakune Hotel's Public Bar, which was later stolen.
