People of a variety of ages enjoyed walking from RAetihi to Ohakune to help raise funds for the Waimarino Rest Home last week. The . walk, on 8 August, left from the Raetihi Police Station and finished at the Ohakune Visitors' Centre, raising about $500. Among the 12 people who took part was a lady who turned 74 years of age on the day. Eight other adults and three children made up the numbers. Although the weather was not the best, all the walkers were suitably dressed and the first ones to Ohakune completed the walk in 2 hours 20 minutes. The walkers were sponsored by individual people from the area to raise the money.
