Local Plunket nurse Carole Harford told the society she was hoping to see a marked drop in reported cases of giardisis following the commissioning of Ohakune's new water treatment plant. However, she is now concerned at the number of mothers giving their babies homogenized milk. She said this is a very risky practice as it caij lead to cow's milk anaemia and mothers should be aware that it is dangerous.
