Service for soldier

Last Friday a memorial service was held in Waiouru for the soldier killed in a car accident on Thursday 6 August. Driver Metua Raea was farewelled by workmates, friends and family at the St James Chapel. At the conclusion of the service mourners travelled to the accident site, 2km south of Waiouru, where crosses were erected for Metua and her unborn child. Metua's workmates told of her caring personality, her readiness to help others and fairness to all

which made her a popular member of the catering corps in Waiouru. Trish, Metua's sister, reminisced about their schooldays at Raumati and the happiness she had found with her fiancee, fellow soldier James Adams. James also spoke at the service. He thanked his friends for their help through the difficult time and spoke a little about his fiancee. "I feel priviliged to have known her" he said. "She has given me a lot to remember."
