A car stolen from Ohakune Junction on Friday night is suspected to have been involved in the burglary of the Rendezvous dairy. The Opel Vectra rental car was parked at the Junction with the keys in the ignition At about 4am on Saturday thieves smashed through the glass doors of the Parklands dairy and stole several cartons of cigarettes. The car was later found crashed near the swinging bridge on Mangawhero Terrace • Eight more cars were broken into in the Junction area late on Friday and Saturday nights. Thieves smashed windows to rifle through the glove boxes of the cars and stole only minor things. • Police are still puzzled as to what happened to a man found unconscious outside the Pipers Kings Court early Sunday morning. The Auckland man was found lying on the grass verge by the road intoxicated, and suffering wounds to the back of his head . He was taken to Wanganui hospital and treated for hypothermia. He had no recollection of what had happened. • A group of local youths refused entry to the Snow Rock Cafe retaliated by smashing the front windows with bricks early Sunday morning. "This antisocial group of Ohakune youths caused all the problems at the Junction at the weekend," Police Constable Brian Wilson said. He is appealing to any of the large number of people at the Cafe who saw the youths to contact police. About seven bricks and large stones were hurled through the windows and door at about 3.30am. • Also on Sunday morning a white Ford Cortina was stolen from Parklands, joy ridden around town and found smashed into a bridge on Tainui Street .Police are looking for one person in connection with the incident. • An Ohakune man has been arrested for taking a Honda Prelude and four wheeled farm bike on Saturday August 1st. The 21 year old man will appear in the Ohakune district court this Thursday facing two charges of unlawful taking .
