Bridge on Wednesday 5 August began with president Jenny Mottram welcoming Doug Bennett to the club. Doug teamed up with Gordon Mottram and they scored 56.03% after handicapping to take second place north-south. First place north-south went to Bob Tumataroa and Mark Hays with an adjusted score of 57.63%. Third place in the north-south direction went to Tracy Ennis and Les Burns who were relegated from first place with a score of 54.12%. There were a lot of changes after handicapping, in the eastwest direction. Brian Eades and Ron Frew who were first" on the night finished in third place with 52.43%. Bill Te Karu and Jenny Mottram went from fifth to second place with 52.68% and first place went to Tephany Bennett and Jim Cranston who finished with a score of 53.92%.
