Whakapapa power upgrade costs less
Upgrading the reticulation on the Whakapapa skifields has cost King Country Energy less than originally thought. The cost of 1.5 km of new line, plus four transformers to service the Knoll Ridge area and cafe was $130,798.34 compared with a budget of $142,500. The amount paid includes a $33,000 bond. Replacing the 6.2 km overhead line between the Chateau and the Top of the Bruce cost $265,321.89 compared with a budget of $270,000. Chairperson Ken Street told the July board meeting that the excellence of the work done
by King Country Energy staff had been confirmed by a Department of Conservation spokesperson at an end-of-project function.
