Raetihi market day thanks
BYRIC The people of Raetihi are pleased with the success of the Country Market day. Thanks from many went to Karen Phillips, a Raetihi resident, who played a big part in the organisation of the day. Karen joined the Raetihi Information Centre as a volunteer in April and in May was elected to the committee of the
promotions group. "When we asked Karen to take over the running of fundraising and market days, there was no stopping her, as she was doing what she enjoys most," said chairman John Dobson. "The proof of this being the great success of the market day, held to celebrate the opening of a Lotto agency in Raetihi on 18 July."
Promotions Group president, John Dobson said some were sceptical of whether it would be a success. "With it being such lovely weather, you would think that many people would be up the mountain. But to the contrary, the day was a tremendous success." "It was an excellent opportunity for people to see what Raetihi has
to offer. With millions of dollars in truck assets, it makes one realise the investment needed to provide such services in transporting and logging and the town is grateful to McCarthy Transport, Kui and Griffin, Barrett and Taura, and Carmichael Transport for the impressive display of trucks in the opening parade.
