Yokel explains
• When I suggested a more realistic method of obtaining reparation for property damage and making those responsible pay by placing them in a work-guaranteed detention centre and substituting the unemployment benefit ( where applicable) with a basic minimum wage until the debt was settled, I was referring to those who had smashed 41 shopfront windows recently (see Letters 7 July) and not to all unemployed as some of your other correspondents have assumed. And yes I too have been unemployed on at least three separate occasions but at no time have I gone round smashing windows... what would have been the point? That's why I described this behaviour as 'moronic'.
