Rd closure

Local hunters may take the issue of the Mangapurua Valley Road closure to the Ombudsman, Waimarino board mcmber Winston Oliver said last week. Mr Oliver asked that the board write to the conscrvation board advising thcm of the possibility that council would challenge the legality of the road closure.

But Cr Doug Bennett said it was doubtful ihe council would want to spend money on fighting the closure "It's clear to me the closure is legal. We may not have understood the procedure, but it is done," he said. "The locals would like the procedure to go back to squarc one," said Mr Oliver, in suggesting thcy may take the matter to the Ombudsman.
