Ovens installed at schools
Waimarino school pupils now have the latest electric kitchen gadgetry to help them learn their art, thanks to King Country Energy. KCE installed two multi-function ovens and two microwave ovens in Ohakune Primary School and at a fraction of their normal cost, with help from ECNZ.
"Seventy-five per cent of New Zealand homes now have microwave ovens so it is worthwhile for schools to have them in their cooking classrooms," said KCE staff member Bruce Clow. He said KCE had a programme of providing schools in the district with ovens, to help get children used to using electricity and to educate them on the benefits of electric
power. Ohakune's Home Economics classroom is used by children from Raetihi, Rangataua, National Park, Orautoha, Ngamatea and Waiouru so the ovens will benefit many Waimarino children. - KCE has also provided two multi-function ovens and two microwave ovens to Ruapehu College.
