Water works engineer Peter Johnson holds up the business bit of Ohakune's new water treatment plant - an ultra-violet light bulb - one of six which will kill bugs as the water passes through the chamber (at front of photo). Construction of the plant is now complete and clean water was expected to start flowing yesterday. Mr Johnson warns however, that there will be a 7-10 day commissioning period, which will see a transition from dirty to clean water arriving at taps in town.
