Fun for locals aim of festival

The aim of the MidTerm Break Ohakune Carrot Festival is to "bring together the business, tourist, retail and community sectors in a friendly, festive atmosphere". This year's event is to be a smaller local event with the aim of building it into a

larger drawcard to the area in future years. Organisers say they have tried to contact as many groups and community organisations as possible, to.invite them to take part, but if any group in the Waimarino hasn't been contacted.

they are still welcome to take part. Contact people for the festival are: Glenys Shepherd (3858 048) or Angela Zimmerman (3854 397). Stall, raffle and exhibit entries can be directed to Rose Pepere at

the Ruapehu Visitors Centre (3858 427). "It's promising to be a fabulous day with dressed up shop fronts, trestled street fronts, a busy marketplace, music from bands and buskers filling the air, the judging of many competi-

tions run through the mid-term break, the bustle of fancy dress competitions, best dressed bikes, Carrot Queen & King, sideshows, races, bucking bull rides, food, food and more food," said Mrs Zimmerman.
