REAP goals outlined
Members of the Ruapehu Rural Education
Activities Programme Inc (REAP) Council endorsed their strategic plan at a meeting in Waiouru recently. "To enhance, promote and provide life-long learning opportunities for all members of our Ruapehu REAP community" was the mission statement chosen by the REAP council for their first Strategic Plan since becoming an incorporated society. REAP became an incorporated society in September 1991 and an interim management committee was set up.
This committee, chaired by Tauri Morgan, drafted the original strategic plan which provided the basis for Monday's rewrite. Six goals were set with objectives detailed for each. The plan will be reviewed in November 1992. The goals were: to provide appropriate learning opportunities to all sectors of the community, to encourage community involvement, to practise quality management and staff development, to maintain and expand resources, to promote community awareness of equity issues and to develop an awareness of, and a commitment to, the treaty of Waitangi. The REAP council is made up of individual members and representatives from sector groups such as schools, early childhood, Ngati Tuwharetoa, Ngati Kahungunu, Tama Upoko, Federated Farmers and the Army. The council receive government funds and other revenue which total approximately $300,000 annually.
