Rubbish pens for skiers

In it's Annual Plan for 1992/93 the Ruapehu District Council has made provision of $5000 for the construction of three refuse pens to be located at various sites in Ohakune for weekend visitors to deposit rubbish bags on leaving

town on Sunday evenings. This has previously been a problem because, ■ even though Ohakune's domestic/residential rubbish collection has been on a Monday morning, rubbish bags left around

town in ski chalet areas during the weekend have often attracted the attention of dogs and cats with the result that not only is an eyesore created but the scattered contents also constitute something of a health hazard.
