Waimarino bowls

Weather played a big part in last season's Waimarino bowling. At the annual general meeting of the Ohakune Women's Bowling Club, held 25 May, president I Vi Brown said in her report that although the 1991/92 season had been I a wet one, there had been some good bowls played. She said the green played j very well and was up to the standard of other greens. For the Westaway cup I played in November, the club was lucky enough to I have a fine day and I Ohakune retained the cup. Congratulations went I to winners of last seaI son's championships

who were four; Audrey Nation (skip), Bernice Cochrane (two), Wai Brown (three) and Ngaire Burrows (lead). Open singles; Chris McLeod. Junior singles; Merrilyn George. Congratulations also went to Ngaire Burrows who represented the Wanganui centre, to play Taranaki in the junior sevens. Patron for the 1992/93 season is Gwen Birchall, president Vi Brown, vice president Rita Kaiwhare, treasurer Bernice Cochrane. The secretary is to be elected later., Match committee; Vi Brown, Bernice Cochrane and Rita Kaiwhare.
