Waiouru Army recruits march out
A platoon of recruits have completed their All Arms Basic Recruit Training in Waiouru recently, and had their march out parade on Wednesday, 13 May. The 33 recruits of three sections have completed the demanding 10 week course achieving standards in : Foot and Rifle Drill (This is taught throughout the training, each section aiming to win the inter platoon drill competition trophy); Weapon Training and Shooting; Physical Training; field Craft (Instruction is given on stalking and living in the field, digging and living in a two man trench, camouflage and concealment); Navigation. During the march -out parade, Lieutenant Colonel Whiting inspected the recruits, and during his address congratulated the recruits for their dress and bearing, and high standard of drill. He thanked parents and friends for taking the time to attend the parade. The following awards were presented on parade: The Obstacle Course Trophy winners2 Section (awarded to the best section over a demanding obstacle course which encompasses realistic battle field obstacles with some battle noise simulation.) The Drill Trophy winners, 3 Section; Cross Country Award went to Private D Neal, The Best Shot to Private D Making; The Warrant Officer Ben Heteraka BEM Memorial Trophy winner; Driver A Jaruis. Sgt Sanft Award winner; Private Gates, for the Best Recruit on the course.
