Raetihi promotions invitation

Raetihi people who are interested in the future of their town have been invited to the annual meeting of the Raetihi Promotions Association. The group was set up as an interim committee, after the "Ewe and Me in Raetihi" campaign, to investigate ways to promote the town. The committee's aim was to get things started until a promotions committee could be elected by the people of the town. The meeting, on 28 May, aims to see this committee elected. The group has so far set up the information centre in Seddon Street, organised the community taskforce scheme to help shop owners smarten up their shop fronts, and worked with the Ruapehu District Council on various matters. "One of the ideas the group has is to promote the attitude for better business, to offer hospitality to all locals and visitors so that Raetihi can become a better town to visit and live in," said group chairman John Dobson. "Raetihi could become a hospitality town, crime free." After the committee had been in existence for two years, it has been suggested by other people in the town that the committee be open for public election.
