Train trip off

f This weekend's scheduled visit to the Ruapehu region by southern train enthusiasts has been delayed, at least temporarily. The proposed Queen's Birthday excursion run by Steam Incorporated, Paekakariki has been postponed until late June, due to a lack of interest and support for the trip. Organisers said at least 100 tickets needed to be pre-sold by last Friday. Train enthusiasts from as far south as Wellington were to have completed the two day excursion in heated carriages hauled by vintage diesel engine DA1431. The trip allowed two nights stay in Ohakune |and a day trip to Taumarunui, with plenty of photo opportunity stops.
