Ruapehu's new marketer
Promoting the Ruapehu region as a total tourism package is the challenging task of the new Ruapehu Marketing Manager, 23-year old Bruce Rollinson. From a South Island farming background, Mr Rollinson left school at the end of his sixth form year to work for two years in the Treasury Department in Wellington. He completed a three-year Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in Marketing at Lincoln University then took up a position with a marketing company in Timaru, 30 minutes drive from his home town of Waimate. An avid outdoor
sportsman, Mr Rollinson intends to utilise the Ruapehu region's fishing, tramping and skiing opportunities, as well as promoting its virtues to the tourism industry. The newest member of the local rugby club, he is enthusiastic about the warm reception he received from Taumarunui and Waimarino residents. As Marketing Manager Mr Rollinson will assist in promoting the region as a whole - working and co-ordinat-ing with individuals and groups associated with tourism, with the aim of facilitating business growth and increasing visitor numbers.
