Planning team named

A meeting held at the Hobbit last week saw the naming of the town's recently formed planning group, now officially called 'The Ohakune Community Development Team'. Although some members were unable to attend the meeting due to increased workloads as the town gears up for the looming ski season, the 15 in attendance actioned (Two) of the first items on their chosen agenda for promoting Ohakune and supporting the community. The first task undertaken by the team is to join with the Ohakune Retailers Association to organise and host the first ever 'Ohakune Carrot Festival' to be held on Saturday 11 July. This year's festival will be on a small scale, aimed at being a fun filled day for families with locally sponsored competitions, sideshows, displays and raffles with marketplace stalls available for people to sell crafts and produce.

"The Ohakune Carrot Festival promises to be a fun packed day and is a community project, so if you are interested in having a stall, running a sideshow and would just love to get involved, please contact team member Rose Pepere at the Ohakune Information Centre," said Anji.
