Ruapehu debt reduced

Ruapehu District Council General Manager, Cliff Houston said that 79.1% of the council' s total budget for the year has been spent, when presenting the Operating Statement and Report for the first nine months of the year (from 1 July 1991 to 31 March 1992) to council at last weeks meeting. This was on target and was supported by an itemised account of all

services provided and costs incurred. Mr Houston said that when the RDC came into being it inherited an overdraft of about $1 million. By prudent management this had been cut back to $280,000 last year and a further reduction in overdraft liability could be expected at the end of this financial year.
