Public spirit
• In the early morning hours of 21 March someone let themselves into my mother's home. A tomahawk was used to gain entry through a nailed up window. My mother, aged 77, was then indeceritly assaulted and bashed. There have been a couple of names bandied around but no arrest. I urge anyone who knows or hears anything to be public spirited and caring enough to contact the police in an effort to eradicate this type of brutal and senseless crime. My brave mother is back in her own home. She now has a large dog which sleeps inside at night. Security locks have been fitted to all windows and doors and a security lighting and alarm system has been installed. As a superannuitant these are extra expenses she can ill afford. It's a sick society we live in when we can't sleep peacefully and safely in our own homes, without watch-dogs, burglar alarms and security systems.
