Water filters in place

Ohakune water scheme engineer Peter Johnson is pictured with the water filtration equipment, installed at the Soldier's Road complex recently. The containers are now filled with the filter material The depth filter, which he is touching, contains a layer of anthracite coal over sand, over a layer of crushed garnite (the gemstone). Following this is a pressure filter filled with diatomatious earth (fossilized organisms) which filter the water down to about one micron. There are two of each of the filters, which will operate in parallel. Mr Jackson said the scheme is on time and on budget.
