Meeting for rest home

BY

RIC

Many local people believe that there is a need for a rest home for people of Raetihi, Ohakune and surrounding districts, so for them the proposal to establish a community rest home is a positive approach and is a local ! project deserving local input.

A public meeting, to be chaired by mayor Garrick Workman, is to be held on 4 May at 7.30pm at the Waimarino club rooms, to form a community trust and steering committee. A possible site for the home is the St Mary's Anglican church section in Seddon Street Raetihi, at a peppercorn rental, though other

sites in town could be considered. Community support and enthusiasm will promote this venture. The type of home envisaged would be for people who feel they are not able to manage on their own, but are not eligible and do not want institutional care of hospitalisation.
