Fun day to end riding season

A ribbon day was held 5n Sunday to celebrate :he end of the Waiouru Saddle Club season. Four groups were organised into classes ac:ording to riders' ages and abilities. Each class tnember competed in five activities for a soloured ribbon; red, blue, yellow or green. rhe class activities included best rider, Washington bending race, walk-trot-canter race, barrel race and the musical sack race. After a sausage sizzle lunch,
there was a fancy dress competition, followed by selection of the best mini jump and low jump rider. The trophy winners were: best first year rider Melodie Cross; most improved Tania Harris; , best rider class one Kerry Shaw; horsemanship trophy Kerry Shaw; presented to the rider who was able to answer a range of questions concerning points of the horse, care of horse and equipment. Shield Amy-Cherie Woon and Tania Harris, presented to the family that the committee felt did a special job during fostering last winter. Tania almost moved into the barn for the duration of winter to care for 'Biscuit'. Amy-Cherie came every day to handfeed Sandy. McPherson Trophy Marina Wallis, " the best intermediate rider. Mini Jump winner Marina Wallis, low jump winner Lisa Robinson, fancy dress winner Yvette Fletcher.
