Ohakune bridge

On Thursday 9 April several selected members of the Ohakune Bridge Club travelled to Taihape to compete for the Taihape Rosebowl. As several of these players were partnering some-one other than their normal partners, they had an opportunity on Wednesday to get in a bit of last minute practice. For those pairs not competing in Taihape it was bridge as usual (or unusual as the case may be). A less aggressive attitude to bidding paid

off for Mark Hays and Bob Tumataroa who took first place northsouth with a score of 59.04%. Second place went to Fr Bernie Vella and John Eades who were relegated from first place after handicapping with 58.60%, while Elaine Goldfinch and Glenda Whale were promoted to third place with an adjusted score of 50.09%. Promotion saw Sarah Hamlin and Pauline Le Noel take first place east-west with 57.05% and Bev Cox and Colin Cox second on 56.38%. Relegated from first to third place were Ron Frew and Brian Eades who finished with an adjusted score of 55.53%. On Friday 10 April the players who competed in Taihape returned yictorious with the Taihape Rosebowl - Congratulations to all concerned. Next week 15 April bridge will be hdd in the Ruapehu College Library.
