AWHENA EDWARDS As school life progresses more activities are being offered and are taking off. Members of the College First XV travelled to Hato Paora Maori Boys College near Feilding to represent the College at the Manawatu Invitation Seven Aside Secondary Schools Rugby Tournament. As the day progressed our boys played hard and managed to win four from six games. Ruapehu beat Wanganui Boys College, Queen Elizabeth College, Tararua and Horowhenua. They were defeated in the semi-finals by Waiopehu College. The final placings were 1st Waiopehu College; 2nd St Peters College; 3rd Manawatu College; 4th Ruapehu College. Ruapehu College was the smallest College participating (according to ro 11 numbers) and there were 20 Colleges taking part. Trials for the College Winter Sports Teams have been in progress over the last two weeks. The Netball teams are: College A Netball Team; Melissa Richards, Awhina Edwards, Ngaoma Wihapi, Coral Rahi, Anna Mason, Kylie Edwards, Felicity

Wilson, Lisa Waerea. College B Netball Team; Linda Cribb, Marama Cribb, Denina Fremlin, Roberta Williams, Robyn Brider, Shannon Taura, Tracy Taura, Dale Clark, Whetu Cribb. 3rd Form Netball Team; Raana Mareikura, Larissa Green, Rachel Brown, Gloria Peni, Sabrina Cooney, Decadia Pakinga, Rora Cribb, Charmaine Oh, Tania Tapiki, Natasha Journeaux. 4th Form Netball Team; Bridie Cleary, Pikimai Mareikura, Dayna Collier, Melanie Robinson, Aroha Williams, Vanessa Parker, Delia Siddells, Kelly Scobie, Tracey Matthews, Kirsty Mcllroy. Fifteen volunteers from Ruapehu College took part in the Winstone Pulp Mill Occupational First Aid Course recently. They were 'victims' who were treated for injuries incurred in an earthquake. The Occupational First Aiders had to report on what happened. The fifteen victims from Ruapehu College were: J Moore, M Chan, A TeHuia, P Callaghan, K McLaren, C Tepu, T Abbott, S Smith, R Mowat, T Prince, J Law, K Breen, W Cosford, D Workman and L McCann.
