BY

JO

HOWIE

Major Ian Gordon has been seconded to Man-

hattan, New York for six months, to the Field Operations Division

representing New Zealand at the United Nations (UN). He will be assisting with co-ordi-nating logistic support to UN missions around the world, particularly in Angola, the Middle East, Cambodia and Yugoslavia, where 80 New Zealanders are situated. Major Gordon's previous postings have incorporated logistic orientated appointments such as chief instructor of the School of Transport and Catering, officer commanding 10 Transport Squadron, and

12 months in England on a transport staff course, He said New Zealand is becoming more involved with the United Nations in the operational area but there was no military representation in the central decision making, which he will be part of. Major Gordon will be accompanied by his wife Elaine and his daughter Emma. Elaine said she is looking forward to living in New York, experiencing the American life style and culture and sight seeing.
