Oh no! Snow!
Sorry sun worshippers, summer's over. And if you've been feeling cold, that's because it was. Waiouru woke to about two centimetres of snow yesterday morning, chains were needed on the Ohakune Mountain Road and four or five centimetres of snow fell evenly over the mountain. Turoa mountain manager Gfant McMasters said the snow would not cause any problems for their summer work as they had completed most of their lifts maintenance. He said there is still some earthworks to be done, but that the snow was not holding that up either. "There 's so much snow left over from last winter up high, if we had a lift line on the High Noon we could be open," he said. This year, Turoa will open as soon as the snow arrives, he said.
