Two men not in a tub
Local youngish salt Jon King and family plus a few friends were on holiday on the Coromandel recently for a spot of fishing, sailing and lazing. He and Richard "Little Joe" Taoa decided to brave the surf one day and take Jon's trailer sailor through the breakers. The boat handled the conditions admirably, cruising through the white water on the way out. Things were different on the way in, or so it appeared, when a wave picked up the boat and it began to surf down the face, turning broadside in the process. Jon and Joe (Oh thee of little faith) decided it was time to abandon ship. But the boat wasn't concerned at all and went about itself, facing back into the waves. Again she had handled the situation admirably while Admiral Jon and First Mate Joe shamed themselves in front of the home crowd, floundering and spluttering
