"Waimarino's 42nd annual Rodeo promises to be yet another great full weekend on rodeo thrills and spills style entertainment, and you are all invited, " said Waimarino Rodeo Club president Ian Healey.

"Rodeo is a great day out for the whole family, so come one, come all, and we'll see you at the Raetihi Rodeo Grounds, next to the Waimarino Showgrounds on Parapara Road, starting Ilam."

New Zealand's top rodeo cowboys will be at Raetihi this weekend all looking for points towards the national titles, which means lots of action entertainment for anyone who cares to take the time for the trip to town. "Entries are similar to 1991, in the open

section which will be held on Saturday, as well as the second division on Sunday," said club president Ian Healey. There are some local entries in the second division competitions, but they would like to see more, he said. "We're getting a few young guys coming

through but not getting that many local guys competing - we'd like more locals to take part." The best spectator events are well supported with competition entries, that's the rough stock events like bronco riding, bull

riding and bare back riding. Entries in the calf roping and steer wrestling are up on previous years. Big name rodeo families like Church and Wright will again be represented at the event, with regular cowboy competitors looking to clock up
