Swimmers off to Australia

BY

JO

HOWIE

Oriana Paul, 8, and Crystal Walker, 9, are going to Australia in September to participate in swimming meets and training. They are two talented swimmers from the Waiouru Swim Club to make up a team of 55 swimmers called the Oz Squad. The swimmers are members of the Wanganui Swimming Association and Frank Sollit is the organiser. Each swimmer's aim is

to raise $2000 to assist with accommodation and travel expenses. To help fundraise, a fashion parade was held at the Waiouru Swimming pool recently. Autumn and winter fashions were displayed from Ohakune's Promenado (was George Edwards), along with clothes from Papakura's Gemini Fashions. During the evening, Oriana and Crystal impressed the crowd by swimming four lengths in different strokes.
