Waimarino Shears 'Golden' in 1993
The 1992 Waimarino Shears was another successful event, with 115 competitors including 30 local shearers. This was despite having to move the event to Ian Rokes property due to the weather and Showgrounds conditions. Shears president Ron Jensen said support for the show was great and that he thanked the sponsors. Next year's show will be part of the Golden Shears circuit and so will attract about 50 more competitors, looking to gain points for the national competition. The Waimarino Shears has been part of the national junior circuit for five or six years, said Ron, and will now become part of Golden Shears seniors, open and intermediate circuit.
