Election officer
Stuart Hunter, exTaumarunui County manager, has been appointed returning officer for the Ruapehu District elections, to be held later this year. Council chief executive Cliff Houston was
returning officer for the first Ruapehu elections, but he has resigned from the office. He said it was desirable that the returning officer be independent from the council structure and be able to fully devote himself to the task.
