Trionman winner
Aaron McCann of Raetihi was winner of the local "Trionman" multisports competition, held in January. Aaron works as a plumber's apprentice at
Dobson Brothers Raetihi. The event is made up of several different activities starting with a 27 kilometre bike ride from Raetihi to Pipiriki, then a kayak paddle of 21km on the Whanganui River, then running up the Matahiwi Track to the Parapara turn-off. From there the last leg of the race was to cycle 27km up the Parapara Road to Raetihi. There were 17 starters with all the entrants finishing. This competition is run on the time it takes each contestant to finish' the different parts of the event and it is intended to be held each summer. Bridge The Annual General Meeting of the Ohakune Bridge Club was held on Wednesday 12 February. Following the Presidents report the officers for 1992 were elected. They are: President Jenny Mottram; Secretary/Treasurer John Eades; Director Ron Martin. The play on Wednesday night consisted of 21 boards which were competed for by 24 players including two visitors from England and one from France. There was some good scoring from the top players with 77.22% being scored by Brian Eades and Ron Frew who won East-West, and 68.33% scored by John and Sandra Eades who were first place NorthSouth. Second places for North-South and EastWest respectively were taken by Ron Martin and Heather Cranston 60% and Rita Kaiwhare and Betty Hammond 57.76%
