Teddy bears, a team of Clydesdales, home brew and homemade wine, and a pet parade will join with the more usual agricultural and pastoral activities this weekend. The 81st annual Waimarino Agricultural and Pastoral Show runs Saturday and Sunday this weekend, most events happening Saturday and the horse events and Waimarino Shears being held Sunday. An inexpensive day out is in store on Saturday, with lots of entertainment for just $2.00 per person as entry fee. (Pre-school children free). The Grand Parade this year will be led by the

special guests, the DB Clydesdales (see separate story). Teddy bears will feature in their own parade at 11.30am, run by the Raetihi Plunket Society. At 12.00pm teddy bears' certificates will be presented, 12.15 the teddy bears' picnic starts and at 1 .00pm "fun & games" start, including horse rides, face paint- ; ing, lolly man, lucky dips, raffles, races (egg & spoon etc) and stories. Entry to the Teddy Bears' Parade and picnic area costs 50c per child or $1.00 per family and "$5.00 should be ample to cover the cost of"h very full and enjoyable day", say organisers.

A children's pet parade is to be held in front of the Grand Stand, starting at 12.30pm and a pet lamb competition starts at 10.30am. Home-made wine makers and home brewers will put their brews up for judging, with $30 prizes offered for the winner of each of three home-brew sections, and $15 vouchers for each of two sections in the wine competition. Judging these starts at 11.00am. Other home industries competitions include handcraft with points prizes available. 21 classes are included in the handcraft section. Cookery includes 9 baking classes; 6 jams, pickles and preserves classes; and 5 children's cooking classes. The horticultural section includes judging in 27 classes of dahlias and 47 classes in the cut flower section. Vegetables will be judged in 27 classes plus 9 classes for children's entries.
