Pony Club news

The Waimarino Pony Club is running an area trial and an open oneday event at Rokes property 1 March For the first time the King Country Area Pony Club has decided to hold only one event to select the King Country team for the New Zealand Pony Club horse trials championships this year, to be held at Blenheim. Waimarino has five riders trying for a place in the team including Cindy Langdon (riding Alcazar), Fiona Evans (Southern Comfort), Vicky Pearson (Higgins), Kirst Mcllroy (Spider Webb), and Katrina Wilson (Share Broker). All are Raetihi riders except for Fiona who is from Ohakune. These riders are busy competing at show, dressage tournaments and ODE to keep their horses fit. Cindy Langdon, Vicky Pearson and Fiona Evans gained positions in the King Country dressage team to go to the zone final at Taupo in April. These riders trialled along with other Waimarino riders at the Owhango Domain

2 February. Cindy won the senior section with a high scoring test, Fiona was 3rd, and Vicky had a good 2nd placing in the junior test. In the 12-years and under, 1st place went to Kushla Edgarten and Marni McGregor was 4th. The club still has to raise $1500 to help with travel to these events. Waimarino has also had a team compete at the AGC Finance SJ Championships at Cambridge and will endeavour to send one to the Timber-lands North Island teams event (horse trials) at Tokoroa in April. Fundraising efforts V will include a batons-up' A on 9 March, a karaokei I musical evening at V Rokes wool shed on 22 March. Club results Senior: 1st Cindy Langdon Alcazar 373, 2nd Chonelle Davey Ei Golden King 323, 3rd Fiona Evans Southern Comfort 207, Kushla Edgarten ' won the 12 yrs and under championship test with Marnie McGregor 4th. Junior: 1st Stazarae Davey Money Talk 284, 2nd Vicky Pearson Higgins 269, 3rd Kim Berry Bay Watch 249, 4th Leah Arnold Marcea Height 249.
