Progress soon for Ruapehu skiing museum

The Ruapehu museum of skiing, which is to be the first of its kind in the country, may be open this winter. The museum was to be open last season, but now plans are on hold while display constructions are completed in Nelson. The museum will include displays of photographs of skiing through the decades, old ski equipment, chocolate wrappers. A video monitor will show old home movies of skiing, which have been loaned for the project and copied onto video tape. Whakapapa Department of Conservation staff hope to know early in February when progress on the project would continue.
