• Three people were arrested in Raetihi for the burglary of a Raetihi shop on 2 January. They were a 24 year old Raetihi male, a 21 year old Ohakune male and a 23 year old Ohakune male. • A 20 year old male was arrested for wilful damage on 4 January after a window at the Junction Ski Shop was smashed. • On 7 January a 14 year old male, previously arrested in Ohakune in relation to a number of local burglaries, was picked up again in Ohakune after he escaped from the Social Welfare home where he was being held in custody. • 18 steers were stolen from a remote part of the Ohorea Station on the Parapara Highway sometime between 1 November and 8 January. The beasts are valued at about $750 each. • A green 'Great Outdoors' horse cover was stolen from the back of a horse in a paddock in Shannon Street between 3 and 5 January. • A ski house on the corner of Tyne Street and Mangawhero Terrace was burgled recently. Thieves smashed in through a door and smashed locks inside. Police are still waiting to hear from the house's owner as to what has been taken. • A Chalct in Seddon Street was burgled 5-6 January. The owners are yet to tell Police what property has been taken. • A rental 'Stow and Tow" fumiture trailer was left on the side of the road near Horopito last week after a wheel collapsed. The complainant returned to the site to retrieve it and found it had been stolen.
