Rafting highlight

White water rafting is available all summer in the Ruapehu area, on demand. The Tongariro River, just 45 minutes from Ohakune, is used often by the Ruapehu Outback

Adventures operators, just one of the rafting companies in the area. A three hour trip on 15 kilometres of river with 40 sets of grade 3 and 4 rapids is followed by a swim at the Tokaanu Hot Pools.

During November and December nearly 55 media personalities, journalists and photographers spent two days each in the Ruapehu region and all rated the rafting experience as a highlight of their visit.
