Christmas presents stolen

Police apprehended a 21-year old man and a 13year old youth in possession of Christmas presents burgled from a Ruatiti Valley farmhouse on Thursday. A member of the public had noted the vehicle leaving the area and when the burglary was later discovered the police were quickly called. The police caught up with the offenders on the Pihanga Saddle, and took them to Turangi Police Station. ▲ Jean City clothing shop in Clyde Street Ohakune was burgled on Friday night-Saturday morning and $4000 worth of jeans and T-shirts stolen. ▲ On Sunday five ski houses in Egmont St, Ohakune were found to have been burgled over recent weeks. Burglars at a Manuka St chalet were disturbed in the act on Sunday, with the offenders decamping. Nothing appeared to be taken from the chalet. ▲ A 30-year old man was arrested in Raetihi on Friday, after he refused to leave a Pitt St Property. Police were called to the address after the man, drunk, made a nuisance of himself, demanding a ride to Te Awamutu. He was later found in the complainant's car. The man, who was subject to several non-appearance warrants for his arrest, was taken to Wanganui. A A 21-year old man was arrested for stealing a packet of cigarettes from the Ritz Tea Rooms in Raetihi on Saturday. A A Ford Falcon station wagon was stolen from the yard of H E Webb's Motors, and later recovered in Feilding with its windows smashed. A Police warned a hunter about the possession of a loaded weapon in a vehicle, on the main road near Horopito on Saturday evening. A passing motorist saw a weapon sticking out of the vehicle and reported it to the police. The hunters said they had spotted a deer near the road and had tried to shoot it, said Police.
