Waiouru twilight golf results

Twenty seven players turned out in the balmy weather for twilight golf on 10 December. Karen Devine scored the only two of the evening of

the 5th hole. The chickens came home to roost for: Ian Ponse (nett 31), Henry Wichman (32), Sylvia Bruckner (34), Murray MacGibbon (35), Stu Kett

(35), Sam iraia (35), Karen Devine (35) and Paul Creedy (36). The Christmas Cheer tournament was held in great conditions of 14 December. Sixty two golfers from around the region fronted up to make the most of the course which is nearing its peak condition., Straightest (not longest) drive of the day went to Lyn Drinkwater for the ladies, while George Mclntyre was right up the middle in the men's section. In the nearest pin competition Roy Roberts (Snr) and Ross Hawken (jnr) took out the men's sections. Barbara Dempsey was the closest of the ladies. Clive Sinclair was right on the money in the target green stakes. A number of players scored twos on the day.

Garry Haughey didn't; but then he wasn't playing! Those who did were: Wayne Marsh, Ash Strachan (2), Clive Sinclair (5), Jill Martin (11), Peter Hammond (12), Alan Ives, Ross Hawken and Lucky Manunui (15). Prizes in the stableford competition went to: Senior Men: Charles Pepene (43), Wayne Marsh (41), Mitch Michel (41), Colin Nightingale, Lucky Manunui, Barry Drinkwater, James Renata (all 40), Paul Creedy (39), Ian Bateman and Dave Ahuriri (38), T C Topine and Peter Hammond (37). Junior Men: George "Straight Arrow" Mclntyre (44),Geoff Robinson, and Ross Hawken (41), Mark Hayes (40), Stu Kett, K V Kavana and Zak Ahipene (39), Mark Fowler, Clive Sinclair, Austin Hayward and Barry Kearney (38) and Paul Reddish (37). For the Ladies: Barbara Shaw (43) took out the ham followed by Sylvia Bruckner (39), June MacKinnon (38), Karen Devine and Jill Martin (37), Chris Tidey (36), Goldie Fraser (34) and Marie Oulsnam (32).
