Cowboy hits rodeo trail

BY

RlC

Local cowboy Craig Wiggins leaves shortly for the North Island rodeo circuit accompanied by his loyal supporter Debbie Summer - hays. Starting 28 December, Craig will compete in eight rodeos over 14 days at locations from Wanganui to Kaitaia and will then compete every weekend until the final rodeo in Raetihi 22-23 March 1992, by which time he will have competed in 18 rodeos. Since last year's successes of one first, three seconds and two thirds he has been practising on a mechanical buck-

ing bull and feels confident that by the end of this season he will have earned sufficient prize money to upgrade from competing in the second division to the open events where the prize money is greater. Craig's specialist events are the bull riding and saddle ride in which he will contest the prize money with 30 other competitors. With considerable travelling costs involved Craig is grateful to Starline Services for their sponsorship this year and will proudly wear Starline's colours of white shirt with red lettering.
