Raetihi spruce-up soon

The Raetihi Promotions Group has, after much opposition, criticism, but also support, finalised its first project which involves the rejuvenation of the old dry-cleaning building in Seddon Street. Early January will see the property being pre-
pared and painted under the guidance of a New Zealand Employment Service Task Force Scheme. Up to six local unemployed will be involved. The Promotions Group has arranged a substantial discount on paint through Taubmans, which is available to any Raetihi business wishing to take advantage of the
offer. Each business pays for their own paint and, if the Task Force Scheme can be extended, labour may be available within guide-lines laid down by the Employment Service. The old Dairy Factory building by the town bridge is also planned to receive attention. "The project is a positive step towards
the overall upgrading of some of the town's older buildings and to help present Raetihi to the travelling public as a small but tidy and prosperous town," said promotions Group Secretary Bemice Frost. Anyone wanting details of the scheme can contact Bernice Frost at Waimarino Livestock during business hours.
