Hello & 'bye from Bank men

Waimarino Trustbank managers swapped places last week with the departure of Mark Clements and the arrival of Malcolm Burr. Mr Burr has switched to the Trustbank company, following 18 years with the National Bank including four years as manager at Katikati - a branch he describes as being similar to Waimarino. He and his wife and children are moving to Ohakune because it was "time for a change" and they wanted to be closer to their respective families who live in Palmerston North. "We enjoy small towns with rural atmosphere and this one has a little bit extra in the area," said Mr Burr. He said the family enjoyed skiing so they would look forward to winter 1992. Mark Clements leaves to manage a bigger branch at Masterton after two years, and just short of sitting in the manager 's office in the new Trustbank building. He said despite missing out on seeing the project completed, the highlight of his stay here has been seeing the green light finally given to the development. "We've fought for ages for that," he said. "Head office thought we were a small country branch and that we had ample space - but the growth has been colossal." 'This area has a lot going for it despite the recession. Business and the rural sector are mostly well established with a sound base."
