RDC quits REAP

At its monthly meeting in Taumarunui the Ruapehu District Council voted to discontinue its association with the Central King Country REAP committee. In a report submitted to Council by the general manager on behalf of REAP committee Cr Stuart Shaw, it was pointed out that, due to changed circumstances, it was no longer consid-

ered necessary to have a council representative present at all REAP committee meetings. When Cr Shaw was first appointed to represent Council on the REAP committee in October 1990 it was envisaged that the appointment would provide a line of communication between Council and REAP and thus serve the interest of the larger community. However it was not anticipated that the appointment would call for attendance at many subcommittee and workshop meetings over and above a regular monthly meeting.
